Storing, grading and packing of fruit on behalf of growers

Univeyor Limited working alongside main contractor, Dynamic Systems, has secured two prestigious orders valued in excess of £2.3m from Fruit First Limited. Based in Faversham, Kent, Fruit First is a newly established company specialising in the storing, grading and packing of fruit on behalf of growers throughout the world.

Fruit First’s business plan is to drive out unnecessary cost in the supply chain. By investing in state-of-the-art storage and grading equipment combined with considerable management expertise in storing, grading and packing, Fruit First will be in a position to achieve excellence in service levels to both customer and grower.

Univeyor worked with Dynamic Systems, to design an effective solu-tion for handling pallets and bins containing apples, grapes and stoned fruit either imported from around the world or grown locally in the UK.

The complete installation will incorporate a range of equipment including Automated Satellite Storage Systems, Conveyors, Transfer Cars, Elevators, QC operator stations and Mezzanine Floors.

A key consideration in the design of the solution was operational efficiency to minimise overheads and maximise production times. On site installation is scheduled to commence during January with completion by June 2007.

Commenting on the contract, Univeyor’s general manager, Mike Vernon, says:

“We are increasingly working alongside main contractors to develop a wide range of materials handling and logistics solutions. I’m sure that this is because Univeyor is acknowledged as a leading designer, manufacturer and installer of proven products supported by first class after sales service.”
