Univeyor’s Service
Department in the US – ready for launch
From August 1, Univeyor’s LayerPicker customers in the US will be
looked after by a new service department based in Woodridge,
Chicago. It is of great importance to Univeyor, that the end
customer’s, most of which are large distribution centres within
the fast moving consumer goods industry (FMCG),
are served
promptly for both service and spares. |

Univeyor’s Layer Picker
warmly received Now that Univeyor is a respected
automated handling equipment
supplier on the US market, it is
vital to establish a Service
Department to offer the support
to customers who use Univeyor’s
patented Layer Picker.
The Layer Picker automatically depalletizes whole layers from
pallets, either as a function with picking from pallet to pallet,
or as a function that descrambles layers followed by the handling
of parcels one by one.

Until now, Univeyor has supplied a
considerable number of Layer Pickers through our cooperating
partner Witron, a system integrator of logistics and materials
handling equipment. The end customers are all FMCG distribution
centres, where handling a wide variety of items is a 24/7
operation.
Service and spare parts
The US service department is situated on the site of Columbus
McKinnon (CM) in Woodridge, Chicago. CM is among the World’s 10
largest companies within the materials handling industry, and
Univeyor is part of the CM group. Manager of the new department is
Service Manager, Jan Jensen, who has several years of experience
implementing Univeyor’s solutions. Prior to his appointment, he
was the Technical Manager of TOP-TOY’s distribution centre in
Denmark.
Real-life demonstration on site
Soon to be launched on the US market, is the Layer Picker ‘Movable
Test Rig’. This is an opportunity for customers to have a
demonstration of the Layer Pickers capabilities on their own site,
using their own products. Alternatively, the tests can be carried
out at Univeyor’s premises in Woodridge.
Following further development of the Layer Picker, the machine is
now capable of handling more than 95% of all known FMCG’s. It is
anticipated that the ‘Movable Test Rig’ will be ready in October
2006.
